On April 2, 2024, AquaSymphony organized a Water Literacy Activity at Atatürk Primary School, bringing together students and educators for a day of interactive and educational experiences aimed at raising awareness about water conservation and sustainability. The event featured a series of activities designed to engage participants and promote environmental responsibility through creativity and hands-on learning.
One of the highlights of the day was the presentation of a plaque to Gazi University Faculty Member, Prof. Dr. Rabia Sarıkaya, in recognition of her significant contributions to water literacy. In addition, participation certificates and gifts were presented to the students of GUSET for their dedication and active involvement in the project, acknowledging their commitment to spreading awareness about water sustainability.
The students also enjoyed a traditional folk dance performance, which not only entertained them but also celebrated cultural heritage while raising awareness about the importance of protecting natural resources. This performance was an excellent way to combine artistic expression with environmental education, leaving a lasting impact on the audience.
In a fun and educational twist, a recycling costume fashion show was organized, where four-year-old kindergarten students showcased costumes made entirely from recycled materials. This creative activity encouraged the young participants to think critically about waste reduction and sustainability in a playful and imaginative way, demonstrating how recycling can lead to artistic and functional creations.
Additionally, the Gazi University Classroom Education Community conducted a variety of interactive activities with the students, including hands-on experiments, educational games, storytelling, and role-playing exercises. These activities allowed the students to explore water conservation in an engaging manner, making the learning process both enjoyable and informative. Through these exercises, students were encouraged to think about sustainable practices and how they can apply them in their daily lives.
The event was a resounding success, with active participation from both students and teachers at Atatürk Primary School. AquaSymphony’s ongoing efforts to foster water literacy and sustainability awareness continue to inspire young learners, empowering them to become advocates for environmental protection and responsible water usage. The day marked another step in AquaSymphony’s commitment to educating future generations about the importance of safeguarding water resources for a sustainable future.
