On May 15, 2024, AquaSymphony commemorated World Climate Change Day with a series of educational and hands-on activities focused on raising awareness about climate change, greenhouse gases, and biodiversity conservation. Hosted at the Ankara Science and Art Center, the event brought together students for interactive and immersive learning experiences.
The day began with a Greenhouse Gas Training session, where approximately 15 students participated in a Climate Change Workshop. In this session, the students learned about the sources of greenhouse gases and the significant impact they have on the environment. The workshop provided valuable insights into the science behind climate change and its global consequences.
Following the training, the students took part in a Greenhouse Gas Model Study. This hands-on activity allowed them to explore how greenhouse gases work and how they influence the Earth’s climate. By using models, students were able to visualize the effects of these gases, enhancing their understanding of climate dynamics and the importance of mitigating climate change.
A key part of the event was a session on Climate Change and Bees – A Biodiversity Perspective. In collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, this informative session focused on how bees, essential pollinators, are being impacted by climate change. The session highlighted the critical role bees play in maintaining biodiversity and the challenges they face due to climate shifts. Around 15 students attended this session, gaining a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness of species and ecosystems.
Additionally, students participated in a Bee Life Cycle Activity, where they explored the different stages in a bee’s life cycle. This activity not only helped the students understand the biological processes involved but also emphasized the importance of bees in the ecosystem and how climate change poses a threat to their survival.
The event successfully engaged 15 students in a variety of activities, all aimed at educating them about the pressing issue of climate change and the crucial role biodiversity plays in maintaining a balanced environment. The session at the Ankara Science and Art Center furthered AquaSymphony’s mission to promote environmental literacy and climate awareness among young learners.
Through these activities, AquaSymphony continues to inspire future generations to take responsibility for their environment. Stay connected for more initiatives aimed at fostering sustainability and protecting our planet for years to come.
